Straight Up Chunky Sweater Knitting Pattern (English)

Straight Up Chunky Sweater is an oversized model with a boat neckline, sloping shoulder seams, set-in sleeves with a fine striped structure created using stockinette and purl stitches, and switching between two different qualities/colours of yarn. All edges are finished with i-cords for a simple and light expression.

First, knit the back piece straight down to the end of the armhole. Stitches are knitted up on each side of the back, and the slopes on the shoulders are shaped with short rows. Then join the shoulder pieces using a cast-on at the bottom of the neckline and the front piece is knitted straight down to the same length as the back piece. Here, the front and back pieces are joined in the body, which is knitted in the round and finished with an i-cord. Stitches are worked up along the opening of the armhole and the upper part of the sleeve is shaped with short rows and decreases, after which it continues straight down and is finished with an i-cord.

Finally, stitches are knitted up along the neckline, which is finished with an i-cord.

Choice of size

The sweater has a positive ease of 18-23 cm on size XS-XL and 12-21 on size XXL-XXXL.. This means you should choose a size measuring 18-23/12-21 cm more than your own chest circumference. If your chest measures 96 cm, you should choose a size M with a circumference of 117 cm.
